Terms of use

These are the terms for using CanteenPay. We have kept them short and readable, because a canteen wallet does not need ten pages of fine print.

Last updated July 2026

The short version

CanteenPay lets a parent fund a card, set limits, and pay approved canteen vendors on a child's behalf. Use it for that, treat other people fairly, and we will get along well.

Your account

Keep your password to yourself, and keep your details up to date. You are responsible for what happens under your account, so tell us quickly if something looks wrong.

Accounts are for real people. Please do not sign up on someone else's behalf without their say so.

Money and top ups

The balance in a wallet is real money you have loaded, held so your child can spend it at the canteen. Top ups go through Paystack and may carry a small processing fee, which we show before you confirm.

Spending is limited to the daily and weekly caps you set, and to the vendors the school has approved.

Cards and vendors

A card is tied to one child. If it is lost, freeze it in the app and the balance stays with you. Vendors are approved by the school, and the school settles what they are owed.

Refunds and disputes

If a charge looks wrong, raise it with us or the school and we will look into it. Genuine mistakes get put right.

We cannot refund money a child chose to spend within the limits you set, but we can help you tighten those limits going forward.

Closing your account

You can leave whenever you like. Ask us to close your account and we will return any remaining balance to you, less anything already owed.

Changes

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you. Carrying on using CanteenPay after that means you are fine with the update.

Want the human version of any of this? Write to hello@canteenpay.ng and we will explain it plainly.
